I entered this work in a competition held by the Saatchi Gallery, Tracey Emin was to be the main judge.

It wasn't placed.

At that time I tried to justify my work by stating that this was how I percieved society was treating the female form.

Of course, in hindsight, it was my attitude that was laid bare.

That I was insecure of expressing as such meant the work losing some validity (this bears upon a later work, Trying To Open Up).

The torso is a scaled down version of Plaster Rachel.
